Don’t let the cold weather stop you from going to Andy’s Frozen Custard. From the amazing custard to the endless amount of mix-ins, Andy’s has something for everyone. From January-March, Andy’s offers two seasonal flavors.
The first seasonal flavor that I tried was the Cookie Butter Crunch Concrete ($7.58/$8.68/$10.88). If you like cookie butter, you will love this Concrete. Its presentation is very appealing. There are swirls of cookie butter mixed into it as well as on top which makes it very flavorful. I also liked that there were Biscoff cookie crumbles on top because it created a bit of a crunchy texture. The only downside to this concrete was that the cookie butter flavor was a bit overpowering. The first couple of bites, I really enjoyed it; however, after a while, the vanilla custard flavor was not as noticeable and it began to taste like pure cookie butter. Overall, if you love cookie butter or Biscoff cookies, definitely get this concrete! 3.5/5 paws
The second seasonal flavor I tried was the Cookie Casanova Jackhammer ($8.02/9.12). This treat comes in two forms: a sundae ($7.25) and a Jackhammer (custard “drilled and filled” with sauces). I got the Jackhammer, which had chunks of Andy’s chocolate chip cookies mixed in. It was also “drilled and filled” with hot fudge (you can also fill it with caramel). I did not like this treat very much. I could not taste much cookie flavor, and it just tasted like chocolate sauce blended with vanilla custard. When I did taste the cookie pieces, they were hard, tasted artificial, and lacked flavor. However, I thought that the chocolate fudge in the middle was a good touch. I think I would have liked this treat better if I got it in the sundae version, which has two chocolate chip cookie pieces topped with custard and caramel or fudge. If you’re going to try this treat, definitely get the sundae version. 2/5 paws
Overall, I would not get either of these treats again, but they were fun to try. I will, however, be going back to Andy’s because their custard is very good, and they have a lot of options to mix in. The combinations you can try are endless. Andy’s Frozen Custard is located at 531 N. La Grange Rd. and is open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday as well as Sunday. On Friday and Saturday, it is open until 11:30 p.m.
