If you’re in search of a premier restaurant close by, you should look no further than Hinsdale Prime Steak. The restaurant opened over the summer and is led by Chef Javier Gomez.
The restaurant itself was quiet, and though space inside was limited, it didn’t feel cramped. If your party is over four, you will need to book a bit in advance since there are not many tables that can seat over four. The service was amazing because our waiter was very attentive all evening.
For our appetizer, my family decided to try the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare ($24), which was one of my favorite dishes of the night. The refreshing combination of flavors, between the tuna, avocado, mango, and ponzu sauce, made for a light yet flavorful dish that my entire family enjoyed.
For my main course, my mom and I decided to split the Dover Sole ($74) and the Cacio e Pepe ($36). The Dover sole was a special that night, and the fish itself was satisfactory, but it was a bit dry, and the sauce contained lots of raw garlic, which I am not a fan of due to personal preference. However, the Cacio e Pepe was a very fun dish, as it was served tableside in a cheese wheel and plated over prosciutto. The pasta itself was very flavorful, and I enjoyed the dish. My dad and brother both ordered steaks, the Filet Mignon ($54) and the Dry Aged Kansas City Strip ($76), and I was not able to sample them. They both enjoyed their meals, and my family agreed that the best entree on the table was the Kansas City Strip.
In addition to our entrees, we ordered three sides: the Brussels and Bacon ($14), Truffle-Parm Fries ($14), and the Grilled Caesar ($14). The brussel sprouts had a sweet and tangy flavor that we enjoyed, and the fries were solid, but the salad was the table’s favorite. The combination of the charred lettuce and dressing made for an excellent side that everyone enjoyed.
Overall, Hinsdale Prime Steak is an excellent choice for a celebratory meal or a special occasion. While it has a higher price range, there are many excellent dishes, and it is worth a trip.
