Many students enjoy going to Great American Bagel, Subway, Starbucks, or even Mariano’s to find an after school snack. They are all super close and walkable to SC.
For something different, I highly recommend trying the newly opened Jamba Juice x Auntie Anne’s for a different, appetizing option that is right by SC. I know many students were excited with anticipation when it was being constructed and they put up their coming soon signs.
When my friend and I first walked into the shop, the worker who was working the cash register kindly greeted us. Inside the glass case, next to the register, there were only a couple of pretzels, which I found surprising. However, I could see the worker in the back making more, so I assume the reason for this was because they had just opened for the day.
The menu was your typical Jamba Juice and Auntie Anne’s menu, with various smoothies and pretzels to choose from. But, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw deals and combos for customers who want both a smoothie and a pretzel.
I decided to order the #1 combo duo ($13.99) that came with a small regular nugget pretzel or a small cinnamon sugar nugget pretzel with a small smoothie. I decided to get the cinnamon sugar nugget pretzels with the mango-a-go-go smoothie. My friend got large pepperoni pretzel bites ($7.99). After a few minutes of waiting, the food came out.
The mango-go-go smoothie was a great blend of mangoes, pineapple sherbert, and a juice made of pear, white grape, orange, and passion juice. The smoothie was the right amount of thickness and had hints of sweet and sour. I enjoyed this smoothie because there were other flavors other than just mango in it.
The cinnamon sugar pretzel nuggets were the perfect bite-sized portion. The cinnamon sugar added a nice flavor and each pretzel had an equal amount of cinnamon sugar on it. Without the cinnamon sugar, the pretzel would have been bland, so I recommend getting a pretzel with something on it, not just a plain pretzel.
I also got to try my friend’s pepperoni pretzel bites. Each pretzel had a pepperoni on it. It added a rich flavor that made the pretzel more savory.
The inside of the store was neat and clean. However, one downside is that the only seating inside the store was one little counter with two stools. This surprised me because I thought there would be at least a couple of sit-down tables for customers to sit and eat. However, I figured that it is expected that you take your food to go, and that is why there is little seating. Another reason for this could be because it is a pretty tiny store with not a lot of open space to fit seating.
I highly recommend giving this combo store a try. Jamba Juice x Auntie Anne’s is located at 4700 Gilbert Ave #57, Garden Market, Western Springs, and is open 9 a.m.to 9 p.m. daily.
