12 Years

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change recently released their Climate Report. The report details the devastating consequences the world will face if the world’s temperature increases by more than 1.5 degrees Celcius (34.7 degrees farenheit) in the 12 years. The effects of man-made climate change will be irreversible if governments do not begin to implement climate friendly policies. Here are some of the consequences of increased global warming that we have already begun to see and will continue to worsen without intervention.
- Devastating hurricanes in the us
- Forest fires in the arctic
- Drought
- Coastal flooding- Could impact 10 million people with even 10 cm additional pressure on the coastline
5.) River flooding
6.) Eradication of coral reefs
7.) Food scarcity
8.) Insects and plants will lose half their habitat if temps increase past 1.5C
9.) Elevated acidity in the oceans
10.) The worst humanitarian crisis this world has ever seen with the displacement of over 10 million people due to rising sea levels
