Pilar’s Playlist edition 9

Pilar’s Playlist edition 9

Pilar Valdes, Art Director

I have spent a LOT of time indoors these past few weeks. For starters, I don’t know if you guys have noticed, but it’s cold outside. Then mother nature handed us some beautiful snow, and Dr. Kilrea handed us a snow day. I like being outside, especially in the winter because I think snow is the most beautiful form of precipitation out there. But, I am also a very bad driver even in normal conditions, so when we had a snow day on Monday, my being on the roads wasn’t exactly encouraged. So, I made a playlist; do you guys sense a recurring theme here?

Anyways, this playlist is called “cabin fever” because I guess that’s a thing that happens when you’re inside for too long or something, I don’t really know honestly. But it made for a good playlist name so here we are. This playlist began with a Stevie Wonder song which is very out of character for me, and then it evolved into this playlist that somehow works. It’s honestly a feat if you ask me.

This is a chill playlist to be listened to while you nap on a snow day or in first period study hall. When you’re stuck inside and you want to cozy up next to the fireplace reading a book, this is the playlist I’d recommend to you.

Favorite Song: Closure by Hope Waidley

This song kind of perfectly encapsulates so much of my life right now. It was one of those moments where this song came up on my “Discover Weekly” playlist and I went to listen to it because closure is something I’d really like. The piano ballad is about finding closure for yourself, because at the end of the day, no matter what the other person does, you have to find inner peace for yourself. This song has helped me find some peace, and I hope whatever peace you’re searching for, you find it too.

Hidden Gem: L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. by Noah and the Whale

Talk about a bop! This song is my new anthem, replacing This Too Shall Pass by OK Go. It’s one of those songs that just inspires you to keep chugging along, because at the end of the day, life goes on. You can choose to live your life or simply watch it pass by. This song makes me want to live.

Artist to watch for: dodie

dodie is a female singer songwriter based out of England. She has yet to come out with a full-length album, but if her EPs on Spotify are any indication of a future album, then she will be a big hit. She actually started her music career with ukulele and piano covers on YouTube before moving on to writing her own songs. Her upbeat pop sound with an alternative flair brings a unique spin on very traditional themes of love and heartbreak.
