Winter Reading
December 22, 2016
Summer reading, sure it seems like the bane of your existence and will single handedly ruin your summer, but it actually is giving you a “leg-up” when it comes to getting back into the groove of school. I might be the only one (other than teachers) that would find a winter reading assignment helpful for starting second semester strong.
First of all, a difference would be that you could choose any book, not just from a list compiled by the school. Of the many complaints that I have heard from peers is that the list doesn’t contain books that they’d be interested in reading. By eliminating that factor students should be more willing to pick up a book.
Just incase you are struggling to find a good page-turner for break; here are some to help brainstorm:
- Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling
- Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari
- The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
- The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
- The Help by Kathryn Stockett
- Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
- The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy #1 by Douglas Adams
Happy holidays and happy reading!
