Local bakery closes
September 16, 2021
After 10 years, Aracely’s Bakery in Downtown La Grange will have its last official day of business on Sept. 16 from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This bakery mainly sells Mexican pastries that are made fresh everyday, cake decorator Joanna Colin said.
“We are closing due to having too much work,” bakery owner Araceli Rincón said. “My dad, who started the business, is also looking to step back a little bit, so we are closing this location and focusing on our other shops. He’s also wanting to retire due to recently being blessed with four grandkids.”
In addition to the Downtown La Grange location, there are four other bakeries located in Cicero, Franklin Park, Melrose Park, and Villa Park that are owned by Sixto Rincón and María Rincón, Araceli Rincón said.
“We thank everyone in La Grange for coming out and ordering from us everyday,” Colin said. “We hope they go to our other locations too.”
Aracely’s Bakery will be open on Saturday, Sept. 18 during the Pet Parade, Rincón said. There will be a party to give the store a final farewell and a mariachi band will be performing. Even though this location is closing, there are still plans for involvement in the La Grange Farmer’s Market and pop up shops will be set up in the area during the holiday season.
“It’s been great working here,” Rincón said. “Watching all the families grow together [and] seeing the kids grow up is amazing. Thank you to the [La Grange] community for supporting us for so long and letting us be a part of it. It’s been a really good journey that has opened a lot of doors for our family. We will always be eternally grateful to the town.”
