Back to school dance brings students together

On Friday Sept 9, the LTHS Corral was filled with dozens of students dancing on the floor, playing pool and foosball or just sitting in booths. The Back 2 School dance was not only a dance, but an inviting place to meet new people from LT, especially to new freshman.

“My friends wanted to come, so I decided to tag along,” Jack Turner ’20 said.

It has been three years since a back to school dance was held, so this year Paul Gohdino decided to bring it back. With a goal attendance of 100, by 7:45 p.m. he had already reached 75.

“My plan is to give the students a place to be on Friday nights, so they can get involved in a facility provided by the school,” Gohdino said.

The corral will be having open fun night 6-11 p.m. planned by students which may include video games tournaments with kids from other schools, battle of bands/DJs and other ideas students may come up with.

“We piloted last school year during the final two months with an average of 120 kids per event,” Gohdino said.

The corral has been open for 20 years when there were only 30 clubs at LT. Now with 70 clubs, LT uses the space more than ever when there is limited space elsewhere.
